Tesoro Photography's Blog bio picture

Announcement

I will be doing some mini sessions this fall, and a handful of other
sessions that have already inquired, but really, that’s it.
Indefinitely.

That’s right, Tesoro Photography will not be available for
sessions beyond those I am booking already, and then the mini sessions I
will announce this week.

No, I’m not quitting. Just taking a hiatus. It’s time. Time to spend
doing pre-school with my kids. Time to play without the burden of photo
shoots to edit on my back. Time to regain some creativity. Doing
projects like those I’ve found on Pinterest. Time to clean and organize
and purge and pack. Well, maybe not. ;)

If we are still here after January, I think the earliest I foresee re-opening shop would be March.

About Us

Melissa Pearce

I first fell for photography when I was little, shooting snails
and rosebushes with my little 110mm camera. As I grew older, I realized
it was people I really loved to photograph. After high school, I studied
photography at the University of the Nations in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. I
worked
at a film and print lab for a year, shooting on my own here and there.
(The first few weddings I shot were in film! ) Then I spent the next two
years working as a lead photographer for a local studio, where I
predominantly shot weddings and designed albums. I married my husband,
Randy, in 2006 and we had our first little cuddlebug in March of 2008,
and our second in June 2009. (Phew, I know that was fast, but we
wouldn't trade them for anything!) I LOVE being a mom. I also LOVE
sushi, stationery, fast lenses and my Lord and Savior, Jesus. I grew up
speaking English and Spanish, hence the name of our company, "Tesoro,"
which means "treasure."

Randy Pearce

I have been interested in photography for a while, but of
course, when I met Mel, I really got into it. I have been her assistant
and second shooter for a couple of years now, and she tells me I rock.

Then Comes Marriage: Natalie & Clay!

I remember the first day I met her. She wore high heels and was assigned to accompany me on an engagement session at Duke Gardens. We made small talk in the car, and I wondered if she’d like working with us. Two hours and a couple hundred photos later, Natalie had blistered feet and realized...

Then Comes Marriage: Kelli & Atlee

You never know how much fun weddings can be until you go… and you never know who you’ll meet. Kelli and Atlee had been at the weddings of mutual friends on more than one occasion without much ado, but for one reason or another their paths were meant to cross again at a certain wedding…...

Beautiful Bride: Kelli

A couple months before the wedding, Kelli & I met for some bridal portrait action at All Saints Chapel downtown Raleigh, the chapel where she and Atlee would pledge “I do.” Being that I am not originally from the South, this tradition seemed foreign to me, but the more I think about it, the more...

Then Comes Marriage: Jana & Digit

I guess it was the way he held her hand and she leaned into him. Or maybe it was the way they looked at each other with excited eyes. Or the laugh– the genuine laugh. Their fingers interlaced between sips of Starbucks frozen delicacies….and that’s how we knew: Jana & Digit were head over heels...

Sneakety Peek: Jana & Digit!

I’m not lying when I say that if every wedding could be as smooth and lovely as this one, I would shoot weddings every month. What a wonderful day this was! So much more to come! Congratulations Jana & Digit! And all the family!

Sseko Sandals! Custom Wedding Sandals!

Oh my — have you heard of these? I am in love. Not only are these super cute, but they are created by young impoverished women of Uganda trying to earn their tuition for university! Being that my sister has such a heart for Uganda, I light up when I see it mentioned. Anywhere. And...

Then Comes Marriage: Esther & Steven

Oh. My heart is full of happy feelings as I write this post. Why? Well, Back in 2001, just after 9/11, I flew across the Atlantic and found myself living with a house full of Brits, and discovered that another American was coming soon. I was so excited, and hoping that the week delay for...
