Tesoro Photography's Blog bio picture

Melissa

I LOVE being a mom. I could eat sushi 3 times a day. If bookstores had beds in them, I'd have no reason to leave. My heart gets all fluttery when I am in a stationery store. Spanglish is my first language. Ikea is my new obsession. I listen to Paramore when editing photos, working out, and giving birth. I crave fast lenses and chocolate chip cookies every other day. Jesus Christ saved my life and continues to save me from myself.

Randy

I eat Chick-Fil-A four times a week, wish I had time to be cycling again, and bake a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies at least twice a month. (Why? Because my wife loves them.)

FAQ’s

It seems everyone has one of these pages, and yes, I think that it’s about time I have one, too. Here are a few of the most asked questions, and if you have any others, please contact us!

  • What does “Tesoro” mean? Tesoro is Spanish for “treasure.”  We love to photograph what’s really important in life– the people, the relationships, the moments that define us. This is what we think of as real treasure–because we believe each person is created by God, and thus, is valuable!  We love to be able to help you keep that in mind, by giving you tangible memories of your treasures.
  • So, you both shoot? Yes, we do! Melissa has been shooting since 2003, and Randy, while a longtime photography enthusiast, has been shooting *for real* since 2007.
  • What is your favorite thing to shoot? Mel’s fave is couples–engagement sessions are so super fun. [I love the versatility, the emotion, the fun of photographing a couple in love without the time limits that are often present on the wedding day. AND, I love them so much that we include them in all our wedding packages. Especially because it enables us to get to know the couple prior to the big day.] Randy loves to photograph sport-related events best of all… check out his sweet slideshow on the Wake Forest Criterium last year here.
  • Do you have recommendations for wedding day venues? YES! I have shot in most of the local venues multiple times, and I have my favorites, but for a good general idea of where to start, check out http://foreverbridal.net
